Terry slowly walked down the road to the Jean Grey school. Her life had been turned up side down, during that attack on her Uncle's restaurant her powers awakened.. Now when ever she sees something she can preform it as if she had done it for years. So far her Uncle was the only one who knew. And he promised not to tell anything. Leaving it up to Terry to tell her family when she was ready.. But before she did that she wanted to learn how to control this.. Because now whenever she saw something like on a cooking show she would do it without meaning to.. her goal was to be a chief and this power was cheating. And would ruin everything she has worked for. So what better place to try and learn then at a school made for mutants? Soon Terry came to the huge iron gates, she gulped a little when she saw them though. They where a bit scary.. But walked up to them she did and come to a stop. Wow this place was huge! Terry thought as she looked though the bars of the gate.
The group that ran the school call themselves the X-men.. She had no desire to be a super hero.. She just wanted to learn as much as she could to try to live a normal life., Terry then took a deep breath to calm herself. She was a bit nervous, " Umm Hello Anyone here?" She asked. She looked around till she saw a camera she then gave a weak smile and waved to it. But after nothing happened Terry soon became disheartened. " I... I guess not... I can come back later...." Terry said as she started to walk away. Of course no one would come they must be busy.. Ugh she felt like a fool coming here...

Lance scratched the back of his head as he looked through a list of clients, crossing out some names here and there while adding a few new ones interested in starting a fitness regimen. Since he didn't always work at the school, Lance had also been working part-time as a fitness personal trainer after getting his Bachelor's in Sports fitness and medicine and his certificate allowing him to be licensed to do so in the process. But once every week he tended to go through his clientele list since it shifted all the time with new people joining and seeking a new routine, others quitting, and some deciding they were ready to go solo. Then, there were those rare times he sometimes just got someone who was interested in just seeking his affections of which he eventually told them to take the training seriously or he would end it now, usually the latter happened and he was fine with that. But sometimes he often heard from the others that he needed to get out and have a social life, date even or find new friends but he always failed miserably at both.
So, his time was spent doing this, the students, and occasionally a hero if things were looking bad. Though he paused as he heard someone was at the door and leaned back to look at the cameras nearby and saw a young woman was at the front gates but no one had yet to answer. Setting his things aside, Lance quickly got to his feet and hurried out the door before she could leave since he knew they usually tried not turn away anyone and he knew she probably would be disappointed and get the wrong idea that they were ignoring someone interested in coming to the school or seeing it for someone else. "Wait miss, you don't have to leave!" Lance called quickly before finally coming to a stop at the gates, "Sorry for a slow response the drive way is quite far in distance. Unfortunately, super speed isn't my thing." He chuckled, panting a little from the run but he opened the gates and held them open for her, "Please come on in, we welcome guests all the time here." He assured he with a smile, "I take your interested in coming here?" He inquired.

Terry sighed as she walked away, she knew she should have called ahead first now she had wasted time. But before she could get to far away she heard someone call out. Terry then turned around to see a man had ran up to the gate. So someone had noticed after all? well that made for a not so wasted trip. Terry gave a weak smile as she tucked some of her hair behind ear. Ok how was she going to put this?? She had powers but was not sure what it was? And just wanted to find someone who may be able to teach her without having to enroll? Ugh that was not going to fly most likely.. " Umm Hi... I'm Terry Nova.. Nice to meet you."" Terry said as she walked back over to the gate walking in. "Umm... No I'm not looking to join the school.. More like looking for a mentor? I..Well you see.. I am a mutant but a new one. My powers manifested a week ago and its been freaking me out. When I see something I can do it.. Like.. Ugh Show me something that took you a while to master.. That is the easiest way to show you what I mean.." " Terry said as she started to blush from embarrassment.

"It's nice to meet you Terry, I'm Lance Bond a part time teacher here at the school and part of it's resident X-men." Lance introduced herself, giving her a quick smile. He could see she seemed nervous or embarrassed, though more towards the latter since this likely was the first time she had been near the school or truly told anyone outside of family what she was which wasn't uncommon. And her reaction to suddenly having powers wasn't surprising either since many of the students, himself back in the day included, often were scared, confused, and uncertain of what to do. And at times that could be their most vulnerable state until they learned to control their powers themselves or with help.
Though as he looked at Terry he was surprised to realize she had to be roughly close to his age, which meant she was at least in her twenties. A late bloomer in terms of mutants. It was rare but not all mutants got their powers at puberty. "Do it huh...hmm, think I get what you mean but just to be on the safe side." Lance said as he looked around a bit before coming near one of the trees and shifting to his fighting stance, doing a quick roundhouse kick and lifting his other foot in a follow up tornado kick, knowing such things could take time to get decently. "Like this?" He inquired, before turning back to her.

So this was a another mutant.. Not as scary as the news made them out to be, in fact he was kinda cute. Though as soon as that thought came she squished it down. She had no time to think about how cute guys where. She needed to get this power under control and fast. Lance seemed to get what she was trying to say as he moved away a bit and preformed a few fighting moves. Terry watched as he did this knowing whatever this power was recorded it. When he asked a question Terry nodded. " Yes just like that thank you.. Now watch...."" Terry said as she then placed her purse down. She then also walked into a safe enough clearing. She then took the same exact fighting stance that Lance had taken. Then flawlessly did a roundhouse kick followed by raising her other foot to follow up with a tornado kick. As if she had done it for years. She then stood normally as she then looked back at Lance. "I did not know how to do that when I woke up this morning." Terry said as she picked up her purse. " So can you help me?" Terry asked. Terry hoped this place could help.. Not that she wanted to be a student or be a super hero.. A mentor was all she needed if they could spare one.

"Interesting, it's almost like muscle memory." Lance said as he watched her perform his stance and moves exactly as he did it, making him quite surprised. Even someone with a photographic memory wouldn't perform it perfectly the first time. It seemed her ability allowed her to match movements perfectly without having to even practice and it made for a good way to learn quickly if someone wanted to. But from the way Terry sounded this wasn't her case, she likely wanted to learn to just merely better control it and be able to still be her own person.
"Well, we do sometimes offer private lessons if you would prefer, but not many people have taken that option and prefer to just come here. But it's so unheard of around here we often just offer for enrollment." Lance explained but she had made it clear that was not what she wanted. And that was fine. Everyone there understood their choices and were able to change their schooling like any nodding school or college out there. "Alright, I think we can make this work." He said mostly to himself and motioned Terry to follow him, "I say we definitely can help. In fact, I can give you a hand myself since I live in New York rather then here all the time and I can easily have you signed up as a student but under my tutelage that way you can still go about your every day life and train when you have the time." Lance explained to her, knowing this might be the best way to cover her learning her powers and still being able to continue her normal life as before.
Though as they walked he knew this could be the time to learn more about the woman, "Tell me a bit more about yourself Terry, it might help me understand more about you and how we can arrange things. I know life can be hectic so it'll definitely help." Lance said as he looked back at her, finding her attractive but knew his mind was in full teacher mode rather then a social one.

Terry blinked as Lance said her power was most likely muscle memory. So there was a name for it, it is a useful power but the same time bad.. Like the time she ran into a Dark avenger member.. She forgot his name but thanks to her powers and a real Avenger showing up they where able to defeat him. Ooh that was so scary, so yes just in case more things like that happen she wanted to be able to defend herself. But when it came to her real life she wanted to be able to know how to turn off her power. So she can do things on her own skill. Lance spoke again snapping Terry out of her thoughts. As he spoke though she became worried that this place would be unable to do her request. But as he went on it seemed it would be possible just to have a mentor and not become a student. Besides she is twenty years old... a bit to old to be a student anyway. Unless a they had a adult course? Even then that idea was not appealing.
Then Lance started to ask he to tell him more about herself, Terry blushed a little at the question though she did not know why. With a sigh she followed after him. " Well I'm a waitress at my Uncle's restaurant. Though my dream in to come a chef so I have been saving up the money for collage. Up to this point my life has been normal. And well when my powers manifested my Uncle's restaurant was a attacked and my Uncle was shot. He is alright thank goodness. In fact I also met a X-men that day as well. I forgot his name though sadly. He was the one who told me I was a mutant. " Terry said as she remembered that day. How scary it was and the shock she was a mutant.. It was something she was never going to forget. " Also another scary thing happened this past week.. I had a run in with a Dark Avenger.. He is a archer? And as luck would have it That day I had gotten done at a archery range with some friends. And well we get got into it. I was able to match him move to move. But I still would have lost if it where not for a real Avenger showing up. Another archer. Those two started to battle it out and while I was being ignored I was able to shoot off a sneak attack and shot the Dark Avenger in the foot. he then fled after that. " Terry said, yeah that was a lot to say but she felt like Lance needed to know everything that has happened.

Lance listened and rubbed his chin as he thought for a moment, not realizing her full desire was a way to turn off her powers at times. But he figured she had a very eventful week or two and most likely what drove her to come there seeking help, on top of one of their own apparently meeting her. But Lance couldn't be sure who. "It's normally in times of great stress that our powers manifest, normally it can be emotional, situational, or even some of the more...usual stresses of growing up. But I admit, it's rare that powers come later in life then around the age of puberty so the instance of your's at your age is quite rare, much as it is for a baby to manifest powers upon birth." Lance said as he was forming of what to make of all this, especially how luck seemed to not be nice to Terry. "Most likely that archer was Barney Barton, he's been a long time member of the Dark Avengers back when they were first around, seems to be the case now too."
"The thing about powers is that they can be unpredictable. Some powers can be shut off and other's can't. Some are more visible then others, which if you decide to visit here often you will see for yourself." Lance said, unknowingly dampening the thought that her power could be turned off. "But becoming what we are can be life changing, marking the break of your old life to a new one. We are normal though, just perhaps not in the usual definition people think." Lance explained as he came to a stop at the fountain and looked towards Terry.
