"I don't get it......I don't understand any of this!" Davyn talked to himself as he stared at the collage grade chemistray book with three pages stapled together on the right side. Course that was only part of the massive homework that he had for three more textbooks sat next to him on the bench and there were several pieces of paper sticking out of each of them. He was so behind, being stuck up there with SHIELD all the time...he could hardly attend any classes. Oh god why...why...why...WHY?!! He didn't understand anything that was going on in his courses! CLosing the book shut quickly, he reached for the book on top of the stack, placed it on his lap, and opened it quickly. Amber eyes tried to find what the piece of paper was talking about in there, however in his confused and panicing mind....he had merely grabbed his math book. Realizing this a few seconds later a sigh that was on the boarder of being a frustrated growl left him as he closed, pushing it off his lap so it rested on the bench. This...was...HOPELESS. How on Earth was he gonna get caught up in time? Perhaps he just throw in the towel and throw himself off the Helicarrier? That be a fast ride down, course the end would result in him being rendered to nothing but a red splat on the ground. As much as he'd like to be out of SHIELD that...wasn't the best route to take. Removing the other book from his lap, he sat it ontop of the math one and leaned back. Getting frustrated wasn't helping him either, that could just end up triggering the Demon Dog most likely. Something that really needed to be avoid and honestly it be a very pathetic reason to have lost control. All because he got so frustrated at his homework and confused by it since he had no idea on what was going on. Lovely.

Unlike Davyn's day, Kymera's seem to be going rather well. She had been taking time away from the X-mansion to have time to herself, much preferring it really since she really hadn't made much of connection to the team of this time compared to her own. This could be especially said of Storm in this time, her alternate reality mother who was actually alive. But she was somewhat afraid to try and make that connection without it resulting in a soured relationship just as it had been back in her time. So a trip to Central Park helped to take her mind off things and of course she wasn't alone as a rather unusually large panther trotted after her and causing many to stare or try and avoid the duo.
A stroll through Central Park usually brought back the days when things hadn't been so tense, but this place was much different from her own. "I wonder if we'll ever find our way back home Gatura." She sighed softly, rubbing his head and causing the panther to purr loudly as they walked through the grassy open area of the park. The grass crunched softly beneath their feet at as they headed towards the nearest concrete path, the two having no particular destination in mind as they soon came to the path. On a nice day like this it didn't surprise the young woman that there were so many around, both for a moment watching some large groups go by that quickly hurried their pace the moment they noticed the rather large panther at her side. This didn't seem to bother Kymera though, having gotten this reaction many times before since she had gotten there.
Though her attention was soon drawn the the loud frustrated words of Davyn, her feral looking eyes turning towards his direction and seeing he certainly seemed frustrated and tense. Upon seeing the books however she could understand why now, having had some college courses before and knew how incredibly frustrating they could be. Maybe some company might help ease his mind? "Excuse me, seems like your not having the best of days. I'm assuming college courses, yes?"Kymera spoke up as her and Gatura approached him.

The voice actually caught him offguard, he didn't think he was speaking horribly loud. At least not loud enough to attrack attention. However it seemed he did. His amber gaze went toward the voice though his eyes went wide upon seeing the panther. A panther?! Since when did those walk the streets without people screaming? Oh wait...well those that were nearby had left so...okay not much changed. But still! Shaking his head to get himself to stop worrying about the panther, he turned his gaze to the woman that spoke.
"Yeah, I normally don't have many good days and all thos homework isn't helping." Davyn replied with a weak laugh."College courses that I haven't been able to attend for a while, so I've missed many lectures on what is going on and sadly I hold no clues as to what is going in my classes. Makes it much harder."
Davyn was a bit nervous, really he didn't know what the panther would do but it didn't seem like it was aggressive. Course it was a big cat and Davyn never even had a pet cat so what did he know about cat behavoir? Nothing. Though he'd seen plenty of times what anger and aggression in a dog looked like...granted mainly in a six foot nine dog on the TV screen after a rampage, however he'd seen it on a normal dog too. Course...the panther could be a actual person....considering the powers some people had an all.
"I'm Davyn, and you two are?" Davyn introduced himself as he held out a hand to Kymera.
Hope your friend there can't sense anything animal like... Davyn thought to himself a bit nervous. After all, if cats hate dogs probably true with the bigger cousins.

"Trust me I know where you're coming from, college can be pretty frustrating. Really more difficult where I come from, your lucky to get even some sleep in between it." Kymera told him, understanding part of the frustrations and maybe his other issues of missing the classes. Unknowingly to her, he was part of SHIELD while Davyn might not even realize she was part of the X-men, or even a time traveler. Of course how often would people know such people existed, or even other realities parallel to this very one.
But upon seeing his expression it took her a lot not to laugh, but her lips curling into a slightly amused smile. This was much the same reaction many others had given them and she was surprised he wasn't jumping up running away the moment he saw the panther beside her. Who wouldn't when they saw a seemingly menacing creature staring at them. Strangely though, the panther seemed to have a rather intelligent gaze, it's green eyes focused and studying the man before them as it flicked it's tail, showing a relaxed demeanor in it's body despite smelling something rather different about this human before him.
"My name is Kymera, some people call me Kymera Munroe since I prefer not to give my real name except to a very few people." Kymera introduced before scratching the panther affectionately behind the ear. "And this is my panther companion Gatura. He's rather harmless unless I allow him to go full out or unless someone openly is hostile." She explained as the strange thing about this panther is that it seemed to have green glowing stripes on it's body.

"I think here you can struggle to get sleep in as well, course I can't really verify that since my college time isn't really sorted out that well." Davyn replied.
As she introduced herself and the panther, his gaze went back to it. Well, it didn't seem angry at all or the like. So at least he knew that he could shake hands with this girl. Kymera. Not her real name huh? Oh well, it was still a name and something she was fine with being called. That's all that mattered, he didn't need to get on someone's bad side. Heck, he was already on Zandra's and that was by accident. Releasing her hand, he brought his hand back to himself as he listened.
"Well, so long as you're fine with being called Kymera that's all that should matter." Davyn added. "G...Gatura huh? Nice to meet you as well."
He raised his hand though he merely waved to Gatura. He didn't need to lose his hand for any reason, besides some pets prefered only their owners touch. Though seeing the glowing stripes on it, he couldn't help but rub his eyes. Trying to deduce if he was just imagining it or not. Once done, he looked back nope...he wasn't imagining it.
"I take it Gatura isn't the average panther eh?" Davyn asked as he returned his amber gaze to Kymera.

"Well it is New York, everything seems to be attracted to here. It amazes me anyone would be able to get a decent amount of sleep in this city." Kymera stated, referring to all the issues that occurred between heroes and villains. Usually those fights ended up causing all sorts of damage and left the city rebuilding on more then one occasion, it probably was no easy thing that peace prevailed for now. But for how long? There was always that fragile moment when everything would come crashing down of petty crimes to full blown of the first person attempting world domination once again.
Gatura though gave a low growl of greeting, causing the young woman to smile. "He says hi too." She said but chuckling slightly as it seemed Davyn didn't fail to notice he was rather different. "No, he's rather far from being normal. He was a gift from my parents when I was getting older, and me and him become closer when my mutant abilities came in. The markings help in making our bond all the more stronger, or that is my connection to him." Kymera told Davyn as she seemed quite proud of her abilities. "I have empathic abilities towards animals, allowing me to sense how they feel and have influence on them."
As a demonstration Kymera briefly turned her blue eyes towards a group of birds, some of which had been picking at the ground. But with those brief moments that a few actually met her gaze her eyes glowed the same green as Gatura's stripes, the birds seeming to be in a trance almost before they came flying over while Kymera held up an arm and the birds landing right on it as if of their own free will.

"True, this city is a rather dangerous one in many ways." Davyn agreed on.
If it wasn't the simple muggers then it was flat out Super villans. Course even though Davyn was a good guy, he caused damage as well. So much more damage as the Demon Dog. That thing was a menance to society and the sad thing was, he couldn't control it. He wanted to but frankly he wanted it gone. The low growl caused him to shrink back a bit though at Kymera's words he relaxed. A gift? Well....that was something he never heard of happening, sure in movies and cartoons but not real life.
"Oh?" Davyn replied, his voice showing that he was curious in her words.
Davyn's amber gaze followed Kymera's blue gaze toward the birds. When their eyes glowed and they came toward Kymera, his eyes widened a bit. Not in fear or anything, but in a amazement. He knew there were talented people out there with their powers course he just didn't think he'd see it up close. He turned his gaze back to her.
"Interesting and no doubt useful gift." Davyn said. "I remember being a kid and wanting to know what the animals around the town felt. Course.....I wasn't always able to go outside, I could only watch from my window and guess what it was."
She could do that with any animal? Well...the Demon Dog was a giant animal but...no no. Don't even think it.

When seeing Davyn shrink back she smiled in assurance that he was safe, knowing Gatura had no reason to attack the man wihtout real intent. Besides far as Kymera knew he had not shown any evil intent of any kind so she never gaze the word nor saw any reason to harm Davyn. "Well so far it's been relatively peaceful compared to most other times. But I hear rumors that the peace won't be lasting for too long sadly." She said, wishing such times would last but she was happy at least this place was not another dystopian world.
"Sorry to hear that Davyn, but where I'm from it's hard not to avoid the wilderness." Kymera said with sympathy, knowing not everyone who might actually like the outdoors got that chance. She just happen to be raised in a place where animals were bound to be everywhere and she had often been surrounded by panthers most of all. "But my Animal empathy is unique to me as my power, the rest I inherited from my parents." She admitted, knowing it was useful sometimes and even allowed her to coordinate better with her only current real family and that was Gatura.
Though she really had no idea that Davyn had abilities of his own, one that could be quite deadly.

"Peace never really does last, not with how the world is going today. People come upon hard times or they're mind just won't work right for them, they do things that aren't good. There's a lot more to it than just that but, I think we'd be here all day if we tried to list em all." Davyn said.
Peace would be nice, though he'd never really have peace. Not with what he was stuck with it day in an day out all thanks to his father using him as a lab rat. Course he didn't know that his father was just trying to cure his strange and unknown illness that also plagued his mother. But at least she wasn't alive to see this, if she was watching over him from the grave she would most likely be tossing an turning in it from what he done. He didn't mean for any of those things to happen but..they did.
"It's alright, I was...a pretty sick child and there was a forest nearby. Just couldn't go there." Davyn explained; truth be told he still had that illness but not quite the same way anymore. "Well, everyone has to take something form their parents. Most of the time it's not very visable other times you can get something that neither has but some dormant gene they have isn't dormant in you."
A shrug left him, that was how genetics was. Half of you comes from one parent and the other half from the other, traits that they had that were recessive or dormant could show up in the child. Like brunnetes having a blonde or a red haired child. It was all hard to tell really. It's also how illness got passed down as well.
"Well, if you ever watch the news and see this really tall and peeved off dog like creature the press named The Demon Dog, stay away from it." Davyn suggested. "You have a gift and a good one but....I don't think anything can reach that creature."
Because that creature is me and yet I can't even control it. Davyn critized in his head.

"Peace is a fragile, fickle thing the world tries to cling to. It makes me wonder why people bother trying when it never lasts, it's never a forever utopia." Kymera said, her voice being rather distant as if she understood what he meant, in more then one way. She had been born to a world that had known peace only in short spans before all hell broke loose and she often had to quickly face that fact with a quickness.
"Oh I see." Kymera nodded in understanding, letting the birds go from her control as they flew off in almost almost startled state of where they were. This likely had to be a combination of the humans and giant cat they saw before them that caused them to take off in a panic. "Yes, I guess it's true. Though doesn't mean you have to exactly be happy about that, nor really be...close to them." She said to him as she leaned against Gatura who seemed unfazed by the new weight or even really notice as it only purred towards his partner, mostly in affection.
But when he mentioned the Demon Dog, Kymera couldn't recall ever seeing anything about it in the news. Though, she never usually kept up with the news nor the newspaper, only going off what she heard or the emergences that often happened around the place, which was quite often. And it certainly sounded like Davyn knew it well...almost too well which made her wonder if he had encountered it. "I shall try to. But being a crime fighter is part of the job unfortunately." She told him, almost shrugging and showing no fear at the mention of it. She had to deal with a lot of peeved off people, and if seeing ticked, crazy Hank "Beast" McCoy was bad she doubted the Demon Dog would be much of a challenge. At least in her mind.

"People want to live a life where they don't have to suffer, thus they want peace. Sadly everyone has a different view on how to acheive that and with all that going around, no one can see eye to eye." Davyn said. "Thus creating more and more conflict because they all think their way of peace is the better way to go."
Hearing the birds take off quickly, he didn't react much to it. It was a familiar sound and he had a feeling that she just stopped using her power on them. Thus they were going back to what they were doing. Course....with such a large cat near them they most likely freaked, plus with him being there it probably didn't help the poor things. Her words about parents caused him to raise a brow curiously, though he quickly forced the look to go away. It turned into a understand one though.
"I know. Personally, I used to get along with my parents but....well my mother got murdered when I was a kid and after that...my relationship with my father didn't get anywhere since he was always working. Course...." Davyn started though he paused as he looked away and folded his arms. "He really screwed it up with something he did."
Davyn's voice held some bitterment in it as he directed his amber gaze toward the ground. That being the incident that brought all of this upon him. If his father just stopped working on the time, not use him as a lab rat, and actually interact with him well enough then maybe their relationship would be better. Though a sigh left him as he turned his gaze back to Kymera when the subject went to the Demon Dog. Even though he tried to mask it, he felt a bit sad that she most likely wasn't going to be able to avoid the Demon Dog in the future.
Lovely....another person who's gonna get hurt by it. Davyn thought as he mentally sighed. Such is the danger of her job.
"Well, if you ever do face it best get back up before confronting it." Davyn suggested.

"That is the reason we always have war and conflict, because no one is willing to compromise with one view from another's stand point." Kymera agreed as she truly thought if people could learn to compromise more they wouldn't have half the problems in the world they would today. But that was always a wistful thought for anyone as compromise wasn't always the greatest thing in the world unfortunately. Thus she never understood her team's achievements towards peace when it might never exist, not in this world.
Though she listened to what Davyn said and frowned slightly when hearing this, "Guess it was kind of the reverse for me. Me and my mother for some reason never got along, we only respected each other. But she too was murdered, and I never figured out who it was specifically. But I was always closer to my father then anything." She told him, wondering what exactly could have caused such bitterness. It was clear in his tone of voice and body language, making her wonder if there really was more to this story then Davyn was willing to say.
"I shall try. But usually me and Gatura prefer to fight by ourselves. It's...just something that seems fair while we're here." Of course, "here" could refer to anything. Maybe for Davyn it might seem like she was talking about living in New York while she was really referring to being in this reality.

A nod was all taht left Davyn. Yes the world was unwilling to compromise with one another and thus they ended up with all these wars and such. It didn't matter, there was just no pleasing people. Oh well, the world was what it was. Full of different people with different ideals. Such was how it was going to be unless something took away everyone's will in the world. Hearing her words about family, he adjusted his position on the bench for a moment.
"I don't even have respect for that man, maybe as a really young child I looked up to him but other than that...there's really nothing but a lot of bad feelings toward him now." Davyn answered. "I'm not sure if was close to my mother, sure a very young child and sick one often looks to their mother, even more so when the father is never around. Though....I can only wonder what she'd think of many things that have gone on through life."
Yes...how would she feel? How would she feel to see her only child a monster probably? Who did the cowards thing and ran away instead of confuse to the police and the same thing kept happening? Perhaps she'd be ashamed or disgusted? After all...he wasn't really a mutant...just a experiment. But she probably wouldn't take kindly to that.
"Well, pray you don't run into it. Save you both a lot of trouble." Davyn replied.
Heck if they fight it and learn....your dead anyway. Davyn thought.

"Not everyone gets along with one parent or both Davyn, there's only the chance you can at least have some respect. If not that, then it's best to cut ties and not even bother." Kymera said, greatly wondering now what had caused things to be so bad for Davyn and his father they seem to no longer be on good terms, even for a little bit. In fact, it seemed there was nothing but hatred there from what she was seeing and it was hard to not want to inquire more towards the man in knowing exactly what was going on.
Though Kymera knew better. Prying was something she didn't always do and she had for a while tried to prevent her fellow X-men from prying into her own private life when she didn't want them to know anything. So she could understand the need for privacy as a whole. "Like I said, we shall try but knowing our luck it's never that easy." Kymera said with a slight shrug, but curiosity showed. "Though forgive me if I seem to be nosy, you seem to know a lot about that Demon Dog, probably more so then your really trying to let on. Have you had more then one encounter with this mongrel?" Kymera inquired, not knowing what other word to call it other then that. If this beast was so fearsome it seemed a proper word for it.

Even though the years led nothing but hate for the old man, he really didn't wish he could get along with him. IF he could go back in time and stop his father from what he did to him then maybe it would be for best. Course that would screw up a lot of other people's lives....wouldn't it? Something would go wrong in the end. So no point really. A nod left him to show he understood Kymera's words though he didn't have much to add. Soon though the conversation returned to the demon dog and what she asked made hunch his shoulders a bit as he sighed. Lovely.
"You could say that, I've...meet it and seen first hand just what damage it causes." Davyn replied. "It's not pretty what it does and leaves behind. Mongrel...is a bit of a kinder word to use, course the better words I can think of for it are monster and demon. Irony have it the latter is part of it's name."
