Lila loved the word "break time", it was the magical word when one was a SHIELD agent. Why? Because when you were on and off the helicarrier and having to deal with nearly constant missions and training it paid to have a break once in a while, so no one got too burned out. And when one got burned out it was kind of hard to continue to work since you could risk getting yourself and your teammates kill in the process. So, among the designs of the Helicarrier this was like the holy grail for agents so they could unwind and relax.
For Lila, she had been back and forth with the Aquatic Research division, having served as their body guard. Thanks to her physiology, which she still thought to this day was another mutation, she was able to go with them on dives for eight hours at a time before having to resort to making a bubble to breathe. And well, there had been a few different times she had to do that for someone who thought to be brave and not come up when they were low on oxygen. Honestly, some people didn't think or their brains were being turned to mush by the low pressures of the sea. Her's though, not likely. She had been meant to deal with that sort of stuff, it was practically in her DNA.
Now, a chocolate chai latte was what her focus was on. It was rather a simple drink to make with the mix and some milk, and one could put it on ice or warm it up. For her, she loved it warm and it helped relax her tense nerves from going in and out of the cold waters and constantly having to help with equipment and making sure things were alright. Also, it gave her a good chance to continue her pursuit of becoming a Marine Biologist, something she hoped she could be some day and not an agent forever. "Sometimes, this job sucks." She muttered aloud to no one in particular.

Davyn really hated it here, it just reminded him of how he felt trapped here. Besides there was the risk of running into his father here. The accursed man was working for SHIELD as well...hopefully they were in the labs; so long as the accursed man was away from him Davyn didn't care where he was. Sitting there in the break area, he leaned back into the chair and closed his eyes. Really just wanting to give them a rest. He hadn't been up to much lately; other than that mission to find Zandra. Which he did and told the accursed Fury that she said no. He wasn't on how much time passed but he soon heard a voice. A slight laugh left him.
"Guess you came here with different expectations huh?" Davyn asked.

The sound of Davyn's voice made Lila look over, a little surprised someone else was there. She really must have not been that alert to have missed someone else in the room and that was saying something since her senses, out of water, were slightly sharper then normal. But then again, she hadn't really cared to pay much attention to the world around her. Her sole focus was on her drink and to relax, which was likely what the man was trying to do.
Now directing her attention towards Davyn she gave a light shrug, "You could say that. Guess I didn't expect it would be the cause for more late hours then college, but go figure when it's a secret organization." She said as she took a few sips of her drink, feeling it warm her body after long hours in the cold sea which she never minded but a warm drink usually hit the spot after that. Though the young agent couldn't help wondering what Davyn was there for since Lila had so far been assigned to be a field agent of at least Level 1 with having only been there a short time of a few months. And maybe it wouldn't hurt to get to know someone on this blasted ship.
"So, what's Fury got you up here for?" Lila inquired as she came to take a seat from across Davyn before also adding, "And I'm Lila JOhnson by the way but I also go by Ceto for my codename." She introduced herself, thinking an introduction might make this conversation much easier.

"College was easier...but now I'm behind thanks to this place." Davyn replied.
So very behind. He really should just quit due to how behind he was. But then...he truly had no way to rid himself of the demon dog. His father certainly wasn't going to. How could Fury allow that man yon here?! Rage filling thoughts were interrupted by Lia and Davy opened his amber eyes.
"Didn't have a choice in being here, why do you want to know?" Davyn questioned. Davyn Tram. Just call me Davyn."
Code name...yeah...Demon Dog... Davyn thought as he glanced away.

Lila raised in eye brow when Davyn sounded like he was being suspicious which made her wonder if she was dealing with someone who was going to be paranoid all the time. She certainly hoped not, there was enough of them around here on the ship and it'd be nice to meet one agent who wasn't like that aside from herself. "You make it sound like I'm trying to interrogate you or something, Davyn. Honestly, you and half the people on this floating trash can need to learn to lighten up a little otherwise getting tense just makes you sloppy with things." Lila said with a shake of her head.
Taking a few drinks of her chai latte she set the cup down as she shrugged, leaning back in her chair, "And I was asking just to make conversation. Your lucky to get much of that here in SHIELD, so I thought it would be nice but something tells me your not much of a conversationalist." She stated, though that was just the impression she got from barely talking with the man. "Eh, it's not that hard. I usually get ahead in classes for a few weeks and worry about it when I have free time at night. So far, it's been light stuff thanks to being a newbie for now."
Well, at least she was trying. Lila barely knew a single sole on there in terms of being "friends" and more like meet them only on occasion and never really getting to meet anyone. DAvyn was maybe the first agent she really even had much of what could be called a conversation with at the moment. But even then she was beginning to think this was a waste of time he was going to be suspicious.

"Lighten up?" Davyn replied as he looked at her. "It's rather hard to lighten up when I want nothing to do with this place and I've got no choice in being here. Never had one. So you'll have to pardon me for not being happy or at least neutral about this place."
Davyn hated it, he just wanted to live a normal life. Course his father was the result in his predicament that landed him here. He always tried to control it but that backfired; obviously considering how many times the Demon Dog got lose. Conversation? Maybe at one point he would've been more conversation giving.
"I used to be better at it, though I was kid." Davyn said.
Must have easier classes and subjects. Davyn thought.

"I'm sure SHIELD had their reasons, much as their methods may be harsh it's always for some reason." Lila countered, seeing what she was dealing with now. "I chose to come to SHIELD because there was little other choice, I was lucky to even get into college on a scholarship, at the moment I prefer dealing with SHIELD rather then running around on the streets. Majority of us here don't always have a choice or we never will live normal lives even if we were to leave." Lila stated.
Yes, SHIELD had it's down sides, but all things did. She preferred this place over her hellhole of a home, or even the city she had grown up in. Now, because of her status as a mutant she had little else to do but rely on her scholarship in hopes it'd help her before but now being a SHIELD agent certainly was a cushion. "Honestly, it helps pay the bills and keep from going down a completely worse path. Sometimes some of the divisions will be willing to compromise with you," Lila told him as she wondered how new Davyn was. There was no doubt though that there was a major difference in their views towards the organization which meant this was just another time she wouldn't be making a friend so far.
But guess in a secret organization there really was no making friends. "Seems that way." She said, referring to his words of being better when he was a kid. "Look, we all have our reservations about things but that doesn't mean something can't be made the most of of. Quite frankly, how many people can say they've had a chance to better themselves when their past hasn't been the greatest."

"I know why I'm here, why I'm stuck with this place that isn't helping." Davyn replied. "Mine used to be semi-normal, years ago sure. But if it wasn't for that one, stupid...trust breaking....moron!! Then... I would never have to be here."
After speaking or really almost yelling, he sighed and shook his head. Just relax. Try to stay smewhat calm. After taking few breathes, he looked back over at her.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you. It wasn't intended but let's just say that subject about.....the moron, is a very tricky one. Best left alone." Davy apologized. "My classes were so I could find a way to...correct, what tne moron did. Sadly now, I'm extremely behind due to being stuck up here and missing the lectures and notes that...I'm pretty much failing...rather horribly."
Work with the divisions? He wasn't even part of one; to his knowledge. He didn't even have a task to do here. Oh yeah, oce go recruit but that wasn't even for a good reason. We'll just send you since she might not kill you.
"So far, I haven't gotten bettered by this place. I've gotta more stress and a whole lot of complaints, along with things I serious hate. But that's just me, you're here for a much different reason than I am." Davyn spoke as he turned round and took a seat.

Lila frowned as he nearly yelled, but before she could inquire she listened more to him and what he had to say. Faintly she began to have a general idea who this "moron" was and could have a feeling she knew such emotions herself, what Davyn was speaking of had to be a family matter. "So, it's a family matter that's gotten you into this mess. Ironically, I could say the same kind of happened to me to be honest, but I guess in my case it turned out for the better." Lila said, mostly taking a complete guess on the situation and she had no idea how spot on she really was.
Lila may not have been experimented on like Davyn had but she had issues all her own where it began with financial problems to an overly friendly father, and then coming to realize she was a mutant. Well, part mutant since unbeknownst to her she also had Atlantean heritage which was why she had her Merperson Physiology rather then it being a mutation of any kind. It was in her genetics where the man across from her was genetically modified in a sense. So, it seemed they were somewhat in the same boat but at the same time they weren't. Interesting change to this conversation to say the least.
"Have you tried online classes? Much more flexible, and the only way I've kept up with some of mind while having some spare time to go to actual classes." Lila inquired, wondering if that may solve Davyn's problem in terms of his schooling problem.

Yes, moron of a father. A person who had taken what illness a child had and made it horribly worse! He used to be just a human child with a strange illness, unknown to him that his mother had it as well but a human nonetheless. Hearing Lila's words on the family mattered, it might be easy to tell it was a family issue. Though he hadn't expected her to say that she was here for the same reason. Taking a seat once more, Davyn put a hand to his forehead feeling a headache coming on from his own design. Pretty much his own doing. Oh well, a price of being him.
"No....I've just been to frustrated lately I didn't even think of that." Davyn replied.

"Davyn as I said, there's not much you can do sometimes. Honestly, all you can do is take things day by day, take baby steps, however you want to phrase things but that is really all you can do." Lila said with a sigh, finally standing after finishing her drink and cleaning it out real quick before putting it away back in the cupboards. Looking back she could only shrug, "Look, we're in our situations because of family issues, which is defined in different ways for both of us. But all you can do is make the best of what is happening in your life now." She told him as there seemed little more she could say in this conversation.
Honestly, Lila didn't know if she was really making friends with Davyn or they were on a neutral subject. It seemed hardly a conversation from the start and she almost wondered if it had been a waste after all like she had initially thought. But she looked at the time after a moment, seeing it was almost time she got back to her own work. "Don't know if this can be considered a "nice to meet you" meeting or not but I have to be going Davyn, I have one more shift I have to do." She told him.
