Carol shifted slightly in her position as she looked down at a nearby food stand, which was serving the typical New York hot dogs. Her stomach growled as she crouched on the side of the wall, her long tail flicking back and forth as she knew getting near the man would only trigger fear and likely rage from him and the humans around them. SHe had had this happen more then enough times and it often made it difficult to get around the city without someone making a remark about her appearance, though she did get occasional looks of curiosity but rarely did anyone attempt to approach her as a person.
She was demonic looking, with only three fingers and three toes, red fur, and eyes lacking pupils. What's more, she also had a demon like tail that helped her to balance and grip things. But despite this set back Carol had an idea of how to get what she needed, quietly crawling down the building and making sure no one could see her as she stuck to the shadows and tried to remain unseen the best she could. It wasn't easy though since her fur made her stick out like a sore thumb against the steel of the building she was crawling along. Nevertheless, she was determined to get some lunch.
When she reached the vendor she used her tail to tap his shoulder, making him turn to look around as she flipped to the opposite side of the cart and grabbed an already prepared hot dog with a bun and setting the money on the cart, "Thanks." She said brightly before she hurried off, startling several people but she could sense the raging and offensive thoughts running through the man's mind, making Carol wince inwardly knowing she would pay for it but she eventually came to a stop and sat on one of the benches to eat. Yet, she still kept an eye out for hostile minds.

The day was a simple one, course Renard was keeping himself busy. Him and Luke had often practiced the link and thus using Luke's powers through him but right now he was practicing something else. The power that was his own surprisingly. Renard didn't expect to get some sort of abilitly, having Luke around was great! He had a actual friend and they were capable of so much. Course no one else could see him sadly. Staring at a ground a golden lab puppy appeared, barking with it's tail wagging happily. Renard laughed lightly as the dog went over to Luke and stared at him, since the dog was a creation of his own imagination it could see the spirit that was always beside Renard. Luke was very interested in Renard's gift while the way that the lad discovered it. At school where it was always with other people around, the event was funny but still. It was dangerous. Course for now, it wasnt' as dangerous but still, he had requested that they be careful. "Very good." Luke told him with a smile, the dog disappeared. "Thanks." Renard replied with a bigger smile. "So, what now?" "Hm.." Luke folded his arms and started to ponder on that. What to do was a good question, it was hard to say really. With people around it might not be best to continue practicing. After all people were busy in town square but still, there were many people around. Someone might see and freak. Course that's why Renard was practicing things that wouldn't stand up too much. A shrug soon left the spirit due to not being sure on what to do. The black stuffed rabbit was currently in Renard's arms as well as on his lap, though he shifted his hold on the small item for a moment. "We'll find something." Renard answered, it was at this time that someone else showed up on the bench at the moment though Renard hadn't noticed Carol. If Carol looked over at Renard, she would see him looking out at nothing but thin air. Meaning that was what he was talking to. Course he was talking to someone that not many could see.

Though Carol had failed to be there during the young boy's illusion she was curious as to why the boy would be alone. He seemed rather young, maybe a few years younger then she was and it was hard not to miss a kid on his own when she had often seen kids his age around a lot of friends. Of course, for now she decided to mind her own business, finishing her hot dog at the time and just before she suddenly heard Renard talking which caught her attention.
But he seemed to be talking to thin air, making her raise an eye brow slightly. Perhaps an imaginary friend? Kids tended to have wild imaginations and it wasn't uncommon for them to have imaginary things, which unknowingly to Carol this could often be literally true for Renard. And she at the moment had no idea of Luke existing since she wasn't in astral form and had not even read the young boy's mind. But curiosity was beginning to get the best of her as she decided it couldn't hurt to try talking to the young kid. Who knew, maybe his reaction would be much more different compared to most others she came across.
Standing she moved towards Renard, getting a better look at the boy and realizing he had a black stuffed rabbit with him, the clothing faintly making her think of Shakespeare themed plays and time period. She never knew they made stuffed animals like that any more. "Uh, hi there. Do you mind if I join you?" Carol spoke up, wondering if Renard would mind the company.

Having a new voice sound up took the youngster by surprise and when he turned round to look, he did shy a bit away. Sure thanks to Luke, Renard had learned about thigns that most wouldn't believe. Besides the large rabbit thing that Luke could create was a bit scarier than Carol, so the youngster returned his original spot. Not really scared nor shying away. He adjusted the rabbit in his arms and held it a bit closer before speaking. "Hi...sure. That okay with you Luke?" Renard started, turning his gaze over to Luke for the last part. The spirit was really surprised when his gaze landed upon Carol. Either that was a very good costume or....that was all real. Well considering what he could do there was no reason to throw the latter away. Besides she wasn't doing any harm to Renard. "Sure." Luke agreed giving a kind smile that only Renard would see, thus the lad returned his gaze to Carol. "Luke said sure. I'm Renard." Renard added as he reached out with a hand to Carol.

Seeing him at first shy away made Carol frown, wondering if she should just back away. Unlike Luke she could not create telepathic illusions, therefore hiding her appearance wasn't that simple and she always wondered if she should have asked someone at the school if they might have an image inducer. Though it seemed after a bit Renard moved back to his spot, though he seemed to be consulting his rabbit if it was alright, making her again think it might just be an imaginary friend he made up. As before it was not uncommon after all.
"It's nice to meet you Renard, I'm Carol Evergreen." Carol introduced with a smile, hold out her hand and shaking his a bit before returning her hand by her side as she sat down again. Though she briefly looked back as she sensed some thoughts, mostly some hostile ones looking for her and one of them being the angry vendor but she shook her head and rubbed her temple as she tried to block it out, "Ugh, powers can be such a pain sometimes. Sorry for the distraction but I can't completely control my telepathy." She apologized, but found her telepathy also picking up occasional thoughts from Renard...and did she just sense another presence there?
Trying to make sense of that she decided to try and get a conversation going, "Uh, so is your rabbit called Luke? Because I've never seen a rabbit like that around before." She asked curiously.

Reaching with his hand, he shook her hand and released it once that was done. When she shook her head, Renard tilted his head confused. Though from what she said it got him curious. Powers? Luke had powers heck even Renard himself had one. Though it seemed that she didn't have a grasp on it though she seemed to explain what exactly was going on. "Powers?" Renard muttered. "Luke can do things, I can do one but it's not very good." "Renard, I don't think it's best if we tell others about that." Luke cautioned, worry in his voice. "Nonsense, she's got something she can do. We can tell her right?" Renard had turned his gaze to what seemed to be thin air though his gaze went Carol as she spoke again. "Yeah this here is Luke, though Luke is also right there. He's bound to the rabbit." Renard pointed to the empty space of air to where Luke's spirit stood, hidden to all but Renard. At the girl's words, Luke gave a shrug as he stood there. "Well it's a rather old rabbit." Luke replied. "Luke said it's a old rabbit." Renard repeated.

"Yes, aside from my physical mutation I have a secondary one which is telepathy." CArol explained, knowing she didn't have that much of a grasp on her abilities. It seemed there were times she had it down and other times she didn't which could be rather frustrating because there just those thoughts one would prefer not to hear. Sometimes, it would pay off if most people were immune to the most basic of telepathy and it would save her a lot of headaches.
But when Renard mentioned he had powers and supposedly the rabbit she couldn't help wondering what they were, but when he went on to explain that Luke was bound to the rabbit her eyes widened. "An old rabbit you say, and Luke is bound to it..." She thought for a few moments, remembering the presence she had sensed if only for a brief moment. Could this perhaps explain the second presence she had sensed from Renard besides his own? It had to be and maybe Luke was just stuck in an astral form.
"I'm sure your power is better then mine Renard, though there is many people where I live that say our powers are gifts and who strive to help us." Carol explained but there seemed to curiosity eating at her. "Though before I go into too much detail on that do you mind if I create a mind link? It'll be temporary but what you said of Luke, I think I know one of his powers." She asked.

Telepathy? He read about that, wasn't that being able to talk to someone through the use of their mind? Or was it merely just reading it? Probably the previous of the later. There were other things that went with telepathy and really Renard didn't really know much about em. Luke gave a sigh to Renard's words, he hadn't menat for the lad to repeat what he said. Oh well it didn't do any harm it looked like. He was merely thinking out loud.
"I wouldn't say mine is, but Luke can do a lot of things." Renard said though he soon tilted his head. "Mind link? Luke has one in place. IS it possible to have two in place?"
His voice showed he was nerves and concerned, would two be able to stay in place? Could Luke keep his link going? Luke shared the same worries as Renard.

Carol could understand their concerns and knew from her own uncertainty that she had worried about not being able to have to at once but she had heard herself it is possible. Besides it not like her's would be temporary, least hopefully it wouldn't be like it had been with Pietro. Since then she hadn't had an issue of having more than one person at a time.
"It works for more then one person Renard, I promise. It won't affect Luke's in any way, it will allow me to see and speak to him telepathically instead of just outwards like you were now. And with my telepathy I can speak with at least five people at once, mind links just make it easier." Carol explained to him as she knew this would still likely make him unconvinced so the only way to do so was to actually show him. Hopefully he wouldn't be too worried as even the slightest scare could make her lose complete focus. She wasn't Professor X after all or Emma Frost or Jean Grey.
Resting a finger on his temple she focused a bit to connect her mind to Renard's, making a mental link between them and to an extent to Luke as well. And through this process she could at least sense his presence better, confirming that it was indeed him. 'See, there's no harm done. Luke is still connected to your consciousness, it's likely a permanent one he created since you've been together. But it's very possible his astral form is bound to the rabbit.' Carol spoke through her thoughts to them, being able to both project her thoughts to them to speak and read Renard's mind.

She could do it with more than one person? Well she must be indded skilled in some way for that. Course Luke was still a bit unsure...after all, his mental link was permeant. He could lose it if too much stress was put on it and it would cause Renard to be spooked since he'd lose sight of him. Before Renard could say anything on the matter, he saw her hand coming toward him and he just stayed put. A finger was soon resting against his head as he sat there and he glanced about, merely glancing at Luke to make sure the being didn't disappear and thankfully he remained where he was. "Not really, I can't really maintain it under certain circumstances." Luke voiced, testing to see if she could indeed hear him, course he also moved round from where he was to stand in front of Renard. This put the old styled dressed man in front of the lad, thus resulting in Renard's gaze being on the man. Oddly enough these two shared a good few features. Both of them had the same blonde hair and a similiar facial features. Course the two unaware of just what kind of connection they truly held. His long braided ponytail hung behind him, yet odd enough the tip was slightly visiable due to how he soon folded his arms, he was merely more questioning of the link than anything and there was clearly a hint of concern in his eyes. If something went wrong then it would be his fault, after all he always hung around Renard. If he didn't, then this girl might not have taken a interest in the lad. "Astral form?" Renard voiced his confusion; fair too used to doing it that way. His gaze remained on Luke, searching for a answer from the familiar being. Sadly Luke gave a uncertain shrug, he held no clues as to what she was talking about. Astral...he had heard the word before alas it wasn't ringing anything really clear.

When the link was made Luke's presence became far more clear, and Carol almost wondered if Renard was telling the truth. That was when the man was indeed visible to her, making Carol quite surprised that an astral form was lying so dormant inside the rabbit and now it seemed the presence was much more clear now that the link was made. Yet, she still sensed their concern of making it and she knew she'd have to somehow put their minds at ease, literally.
'Understandable. But my skill with telepathy is hardly anything compared to some of the teachers I know like Emma Frost or Professor Xavier. The chances of destroying your link is unlikely, and I'd have to intentionally be trying to cut that link with a psychic attack which I have no intentions of doing.' Carol spoke to them through her thoughts, hoping this might help ease them a bit. Though the more she looked at Luke and Renard the more she found a surprisingly close resemblance, making her wonder if there was that chance that the two might actually be related or there just happened to be a coincidental chance they looked so much alike. Unfortunately, that was not her place to inquire since she barely knew the two.
Though their confusion of when she mentioned an astral form made her smile a bit. 'An astral form is the spiritual form of a person, allowing them to leave their physical body and move about free of their flesh and body. Such an ability allows someone to go onto the astral plane or interact with the environment like going to places your physical self might not be able to go.' Carol explained and nodded to the rabbit, 'In your case Luke, it seems your spirit connected to the rabbit, leaving you trapped in it.'

Was this wise? Allowing another into Renard's mind made him nervous, he had grown close to the lad. Seeing how alone in a sense of friendship he was and honestly he wanted to change that. Course the time had resulted in having to get past the difficulty of his powers. Some of them he was unsure of and honestly he didn't understand how he even...did the astral form to begin with all those years ago. Carol's words of being unlikely to destroy the link by any means even accidental helped Luke to relax slightly. So long as no harm came to Renard Luke was alright with it.
"A spiritual form? So pretty much a spirit or ghost?" Renard asked.
"Yes....that's the only thing i fully understood and honestly I didn't even know I was trapped in it for years. I guess you could say I was asleep though..not too sure if that's possible when it comes to...a astral form?" Luke questioned.
A good long time was how long he been stuck inside that rabbit and it didn't even stay in once place. A toy from his childhood and the thing he was now trapped in. Oh how the world worked.

Carol definitely had no intention of harming them, not any way, shape, or form. She was a pacifist by nature and didn't really like harming anyone or even a fight, not like her older brother who had gone missing sometime ago. So the two had nothing to worry about, at least not from her.
'It's quite possible from what I've learned since discovering my own telepathy. Astral forms are spirit forms of people, and sometimes they get stuck in this world rather then moving onto the afterlife, and usually it's something that was close to them in their living life.' Carol explained, knowing this must really be new to them if they didn't know much about their own powers. She knew the feeling all too well and had avoided being turned into a ghost herself if not for the X-men coming to get her.
Though that was when an idea struck her, 'Renard, Luke, you two say your not that good with your powers yet. What if I made an offer that might be able to help you two learn how to use them?' Carol inquired, wondering if they might be curious about it.

Stuck here? Afterlife? Luke wasn't too sure on what was keeping him here, at least when he was dormant in the stuffed rabbit. So what was it? Why had he remained here even if it was by accident? No saying really. He could play through memories all he wanted later on to try and find the answer but for now he needed to pay attention. The proposition thought had come out of nowhere it felt like and a shocked expression came to Luke's face. Renard on the other hand was drawn in, a look of surprise yet curiosity took over his young face. Really? Such a thing existed?! Could they really?
"You know a place? Really?!!" Renard asked, fully interested and clearly set on doing it.
Luke on the other hand was a bit hesitant. What would be the price to pay? Would it just be a simple thing?

Carol gave a soft nod, smiling when Renard at least seemed rather interested. 'Yes, it's called the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. It's run by the X-men who actually help mutants come to terms with their powers, and they've helped a lot of people when they get into some rough spots.' Carol explained to both of them, having noticed Luke's expression as he seemed hesitant at the prospect. She didn't know why but she knew not everyone was always convinced to go there.
'And usually they don't charge anything to join the school. Many mutants there have been saved from situations that weren't the best and always have their doors open for anyone if they wish to enroll. Still, that'd be up to you two if you really wanted to go.' Carol told them, hoping to put any more doubts at ease and making it clear it was up to Renard and Luke together to decide to go there. If she had to, she would inform the teachers and have maybe one of them at least meet with the boy and Luke since she herself really couldn't do the recruiting but she could at least help.
